Of course, we are pleased with our pastor and all the
things that she does for us. But we are thrilled when the rest of
the community recognizes her contributions. The picture and

Each year the Blair Rotary Club gives a "Service
Above Self" award to a person or business in the community. This
year's recipient is Pastor Shirley Schmidt. . . .
Shirley is a member and president of the Blair
Ministerial Association. She counsels prisoners in the jail for the
association, conducts
Bible study classes at community housing sites, provides church services
at the Good Shepherd and Crowell Homes plus visits the sick in the
hospitals. . . .
Pastor Shirley has been very active with the
Washington County Food Pantry and is a Board member of Joseph's Coat
[the local food pantry and thrift store].
In the community, Shirley Schmidt has been a
president of the Blair Rotary Club, is a Paul Harris Fellow and a
sustaining member of the Rotary International Foundation. She is
currently on the Executive Board of the Crowell Home for her third
three-year term.
She was instrumental in the formation of the
"Building Blocks Boutique" for pregnant women and families
with young
children. Shirley is active in the Salvation Army in Blair and the
Arlington Senior Citizens Center.
The Blair Rotary Club says, "These are
just a
few of the ways,
Shirley has found to serve God and to serve in the community and is most
deserving of the 'Service Above Self Award.'"
